When Judith emailed me to see if I wanted to purchase this desk I immediately replied “YES”! She had a friend in Toronto who wanted to sell it and would even deliver it to her. I just had to go pick it up nearby.
I love the shape and size of this desk. And I knew the perfect colour I would use…General Finishes Persian Bue. I love this colour! The piece had peeling veneer which I ended up taking off and it needed some TLC but I love the result.
Abbey is a lucky little girl. A friend GAVE this set to her mom Sarah…wow, what a nice friend! Sarah and the family are moving today to a cottage on 12 acres and this set will be put in a bedroom that has pine walls. It is going to look wonderful! Sarah knew she wanted it white for that fresh clean look.
I can’t wait to see pictures of the set @ home. Thanks Sarah and family for letting me do such an important piece!
Sometimes you get a piece of furniture with a story behind it that just makes you happy to be able to restore it. As with this dresser…
Julie brought this to me to have redone for a friend. It had been through a house fire and meant a lot to both of them. She asked if I could stain the entire piece. Now I usually don’t (or haven’t) stained furniture. I will do the occasional top, but not an entire piece, but the story behind it made me want to do it. So I sanded, stained, glued, replaced the missing mirror and varathaned…
I have to tell you General Finishes Java Gel is AMAZING! What a transformation. The ease of use and the finish on this is beautiful. I would recommend it to anyone!
Here are some before and afters of the transformed piece.
Thanks Julie for entrusting me with such a special piece!
I really wish I could remember to take pictures of the before’s. This lane chest started out a medium brown wood with a faux leather black top.
Not pretty. I painted the bottom in a white and added the pretty multi colour top. The material is Sunbrella so it is very stain resistant.
Aren’t transformations wonderful? I didn’t add any distressing as the top has enough design, I didn’t feel it needed it.
This would look wonderful in a hallway or at the end of your bed.
I have been so absent from this website but only for good reason. I would have never imagined how busy I would be with my little workshop, creating, painting and just having fun! I am so grateful to all of you that have brought my your cherished pieces to update and make them reusable in your space. I feel so fortunate to be doing something that I love so much!
I thought I would show you some of the pieces I have done and a few before and afters.
