This has been an awesome weekend so far.
Yesterday I went hunting for new treasures at a local thrift store. These 2 small candle holders caught my eye because of the colour (I love green) and texture. Just something small to sit amongst other items. I picked them up and when I looked at the bottom it brought tears to my eyes. They were made by my grandmother (Nanny) in 1976. I was just a teenager… She is no longer with us so I can’t tell you the feeling I had to be holding a part of her creativity. She had a small shop in her home where she taught ceramics and sold pieces she created. Some of my fondest memories were going to Parry Sound on summer holidays and her letting us “create” with her. I will cherish these…
I also found on Kijjiji…(much like Craigs List for you Americans) an awesome find of old glass top Crown jars. Not only were they a great price, there were 9 of the green glass ones in the box! I’ve already given 2 away to someone who appreciates them like me! (I can see them on your shelf now Dayna). I have so many ideas for my collection of jars….
Last but not least, I went to St George, ON this morning for their annual community yard sale. I got the most amazing deals on some wonderful furniture pieces that I can’t wait to start. First of all though I need to empty what is in my garage now. My sister Kim and I had to make 3 trips back to her house with my treasures! Thanks Kim for letting me know what a great day that is and for storing it all in your garage until we get Mark’s truck to pick it up.
It’s really the small things that can make us happy, and I think that if we keep that perspective in our lives we will be content and happy!
Have a great long weekend everyone!
